Yamaha YZF-R6 Price, Specifications and Detailed Review

The new Yamaha R6 has been launched for the year 2021. There have been no major changes to this year's model. It comes with the same engine and colour options as the last year. This supersport bike still looks stylish and sporty without any design updates. Here are the complete details about the R6.

 

Just like its bigger sibling the Yamaha MT-10, the R6 also has not got any updated this year. It continues using the same four-cylinder engine, however, it has been tweaked to meet the latest emission norms. So, here is a detailed review of the new Yamaha R6 and how it fares against its competitors like Ninja ZX-6R, CBR600RR, and GSX-R600.

New Yamaha YZF-R6 Specifications 

The new Yamaha YZF-R6 comes with a 599cc 4-cylinder engine that relies on a liquid cooling system for cooling purpose. The engine on the latest model has been tweaked a little bit to meet the new emission norms. However, there has been no drop in its power and torque output. 

The Yamaha R6 makes 118 PS of maximum power and it feels a little underpowered compared to the other 600cc bikes. As per a comparison by Mototech India, the Yamaha R6 is the least powerful supersport bike among its competitors like Ninja ZX-6R, CBR600RR, and Suzuki GSX-R600. However, there is no major difference in performance among these bikes in the real world. 

 

Yamaha YZF-R6 comes with 320 mm dual disc brakes at the front wheel and a single 220 mm disc brake at the rear wheel. It has been fitted with features like traction control and ABS that makes it very safe. Yamaha provides a good amount of electronics and riding aids on the R6, which makes it very rider-friendly. It gets alloy wheels and tubeless tyres of high quality that provide an amazing grip on the race track. 

It comes with USD forks that are adjustable and at the rear, it gets a mono-shock that is also fully adjustable. The rider gets the complete control over the suspension setup at both the end. The Yamaha R6 has a kerb weight of only 190 kg that makes it very easy to handle and manoeuvre. It is also lighter than the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R, and GSX-R60.
